“[Holly] was very easy to work with on a human level, which matters more than people realise in a long project like this. Communication was clear and straightforward, no chasing, no confusion... Overall, she brought both professionalism and genuine care to the project, and it shows in the finished audiobook..."

Meet the Narrator:
Holly Popkin

Abstract Purple Waves

A curious young woman with a love for magic and wonder, Holly's voice captivates while narrating worlds yet unspoken.

Holly is a trained British voice actor and audiobook narrator who is authorized to work in both the UK and the US. Originally from the cobbled street town of Guildford, Surrey (UK), Holly's love for travel led her to Portland, OR where she now resides with her husband among the mountains and rivers.

Holly's creative life started professionally in 2016 after she graduated from the University of Chichester in Musical Theatre and has since performed as an actor for stage, screen and behind the microphone. Today, Holly primarily works as a voice actor - an acting genre that fills her with life! She added audiobooks to her voice acting career after completing The Great Audiobook Adventure with award-winning narrator Elise Arsenault. Click here for a deeper look into some of Holly's training and mentorships.

As an audiobook narrator, Holly works across multiple genres of fictional works as well as non-fiction spanning lifestyle, travel and the dental industry. Holly is a certified dental radiologist and orthodontic dental assistant in the state of Oregon so she is comfortable and knowledgeable with pronunciations and topics inside the dental industry.

Holly is particularly drawn to fictional works that explore the complexities of family units, how situations make and break us and the journeys we go on to find ourselves. Growing up Holly's family
went through a divorce. At a similar time, a MG book called 'Clean Break' by Jacqueline Wilson had just been released. Holly found herself connecting with the FMC, Em, whose family were also experiencing a divorce. At 10yrs old Holly felt heard, seen and comforted with the changes her family were going through, so much so that reading 'Clean Break' became a supportive core memory in her family’s journey. Having experienced first-hand the comfort reading can provide, Holly knew she wanted to add audiobooks to her VO career particularly to support readers with truthful storytelling that shows them they are not alone in whichever situation they may be facing. She thinks that responsibility is incredibly special!

With her regional Surrey (British) accent, Holly's voice is often described as being warm, smooth and captivating. Her individual sound and lived experience offers a wide range across age categories spanning from Middle Grade all the way to Adult.

Holly loves the magic and wonder of new relationships and the adventures we go on to find those we love. Her own marriage ignited after venturing 5,000 miles from home to work at a summer camp in Oregon, where she happened to meet her husband! Many years on and the pair continue to enjoy wonderful adventures through the beautiful PNW together.

Having lived most of her life in the UK and travelling Europe, Holly has been surrounded by history and beautiful architecture. It was easy for her to feel like she was living her own magical fantasy but especially when she was a resident cast member at a gorgeous regency era castle in Wales!

Outside of her acting career, Holly has a host of experiences in other areas such as being a camp counselor, a film festival volunteer coordinator, and a florist.

When Holly isn't inside an imaginative world narrating stories she can be found paddleboarding or hiking through the Cascades in Oregon, playing boardgames with family and friends or working on her next crochet project. When Holly was introduced to the Portland food scene, her taste for new foods dramatically expanded. Trying new food carts and food spots is now a beloved hobby of hers.

Note: Holly does not narrate horror or graphic abuse and narrates low-spice romance where love interests are involved.

Accents/Dialects: British RP, Northern British, General American, Southern U.S, French, Australian.

Studio: Provides clean, punched, raw or edited audio (depending on your needs) from her sound treated home studio.
Holly is available to work in-studio in PDX or SEA as a local hire or travel to other locations as needed.
